What we are about

The Emmaus Christian Fellowship has been meeting at 78 Bridge Street, Lampeter since 1986.  We are a company of God’s people who have experienced the saving grace of God demonstrated in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God’s Son.  Following His return to His Father He received the promise (John chapter 16, verse 7) of the Holy Spirit whom He poured out in His fullness into the hearts of His disciples to bring about a new birth and to enable them to live a life honouring to Him.  This He has promised to do for all who will call upon and wholeheartedly want to follow Him.

Sunday Services.

The church gathers twice on Sunday; At 10.30 and again at 5.00pm. The first 30-45 minutes of the  morning meeting is an open time of worship when the congregation is involved in giving thanks to the Lord as well as beginning hymns or choruses.  On occasion the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifested.  We would normally take communion during the morning service but sometimes that is left to the evening meeting. When the Pastor is at home he would normally preach but there are numbers of able people who speak as well.  The evening meeting is an hour long and there is always the preaching of the Gospel for about  25 minutes.

Various members of our congregation do a 10 minute slot for the children, telling a story or something similar.

Bible Study and Prayer Meetings

Wednesday evening at 7.30pm at church.

Thursday evenings at 7.30pm at Pam and John Frith’s house.

We gather to enjoy reading, considering and discussing the Word of God.  The study would be around a book or subject decided within the meeting. How often we have seen the Lord move as we have sought Him over the concerns of our lives and those of others.  It is amazing to look back and see His faithfulness as He has changed lives or touched a sick member or changed some circumstance.
